Erasmus MC Foundation

Erasmus MC Foundation is working to optimize healthcare relating to cochlear implantation.

The challenge

Cochlear implants (CIs) are groundbreaking devices for people with severe hearing loss. As well as improving hearing, they enhance quality of life: social barriers are removed and feelings of isolation diminish.

The aging population and expanded eligibility criteria mean the number of people qualifying for a CI will increase significantly over the coming years. To ensure everyone can continue to be offered the right care in the future, it’s important that the organization of CI healthcare should be structured more efficiently.

Our support

Immunis Foundation supports the project ‘Futurecare – optimizing CI healthcare for tomorrow’ of Erasmus MC Foundation. One aspect of this project is shortening and simplifying the CI selection phase: reducing it from a lengthy process involving several hospital visits over a period of months to an efficient process that can be completed in a single day.
